What is mylibrary?
mylibrary is an online library service where Ebooks can be accessed online and physical books can be ordered from a real time web-enabled catalogue. All you have to do is choose the books you want from the comfort of your home or office and your books will be delivered to you at home/office address … and we will pick it once you are ready to receive your next delivery!
mylibrary offers a variety of membership plans that include separate membership plans for physical books and Ebooks. For details click on membership plans.
Why should I become member of mylibrary?
mylibrary marks the onset of a new age British Council Library, reaching out to individuals who are ambitious, keen on having a global perspective and are the potential future leaders of the country - on a platform that is relevant to our 21st century lifestyle.
mylibrary gives you options to choose from 25,000 books and a collection of 70000 e-books ranging from science to fiction to biographies to media and much more! Thus making it one of the Biggest Online Public libraries in Mumbai.
How does mylibrary work?
1. Register your self as a mylibrary member
For this all you need to do is click on REGISTER, provide your personal and professional details, choose a membership plan, mode of payment and accept the terms and conditions.
Upon successful receipt of your payment your account will be activated within 48 hours an email notification along with your membership details will be sent on your email id registered with mylibrary.
2. Browse through our collection.
The entire collection has been classified into genres to ensure that you find the books you want with utmost ease.
Select the books you want to read and add them to your Rental Queue.
View Ebooks collections for accessing reading material online.
3. Queue your selection.
Sign in into your mylibrary account.
Queuing facility allows you to make a wish list of physical books you want to borrow.
Browse the collection, click on the books that you want to read and add them to your Rental Queue, you can queue up to 99 titles!
We recommend that you keep a minimum of 20 books in your Rental Queue so that we can deliver books further down in your Rental Queue in case some books select by you are in circulation (and so not available yet).
The books selected by you will be queued in your account and should be ranked in order of preference and urgency of the selected book .
If you find difficulty in queuing titles, please try our Sample Queue feature under ‘my services’ tab, this feature will be visible to you once you sign in to you account.
The status against each book in your Rental Queue gives you an indication whether the book is 'coming soon' (i.e. yet to be released), 'Available' or 'In Circulation'.
Queuing is not required to access Ebooks. Ebooks can be instantly accessed by signing in your mylibrary account.
4. Delivery and Pick up:
Free delivery and pick up service is offered within Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai. This service is not applicable on Elibrary membership.
Once you have developed your Rental Queue, all you need to do is relax and we will deliver books as per entitlements of your plan. If you have selected a plan that entitles you to access just Ebooks, you will not receive any physical books.
Books are delivered to your doorstep and will normally reach you within 2 working days. You will receive books according to availability, though we will try and deliver them according to the priority assigned by you. We recommend that you keep a minimum of 20 books in your Rental Queue so that we can deliver books further down in your Rental Queue in case some books selected by you are in circulation.
Read at your leisure, but do remember that in order to get your next set of books and get the best value from your membership plan, you should return your books promptly. Be sure that you select the right plan.
When you have finished reading the books you borrowed, simply click the' Return' button in your 'Rental Queue' page, select the date and time you want to return the books.
Once we receive the titles that you have selected to return, a title from your Rental Queue will automatically be dispatched to the next set of books to you. However at any given point you will not be able to hold titles in excess of your entitlement limit.
The pick-up/ delivery is a free service, however if we have to visit you more than once for the pick-up/delivery of a single package, you will have to meet the costs of the rescheduled pick-up/ delivery. Please make sure that you are available to return the books at the date and time selected by you, you will be able to reschedule your pick up date before 24 hours and we will send our courier to pick the books at your preferred date.
Do I have to become a member to avail mylibrary services?
Guest visitors can browse through the catalogue to see our collection and also view reviews written by members on books without registering for mylibrary. To borrow books and get a full access to mylibrary services you have to sign up as a member of mylibrary.
How do I borrow books from mylibrary?
1) Register with mylibrary Register Now
2) Browse/search for books you would like to read and add them to your Rental Queue. It is recommended that you keep at least 20 items in your Rental Queue at all times
3) Your first set of books will be delivered to the delivery address provided to us at the time of registration
How do I get enrolled as a member at mylibrary?
To enrol as a member at mylibrary, simply fill up the registration form by clicking here. Register Now
After becoming a member when will I receive my first books?
As soon as your membership is activated, you can start building your Rental Queue with minimum 20 titles. Depending on your priority of books and their availability, your first set of books will be delivered within 2 working days.
Can I allow other to access my account?
We strongly recommend usage of one account to one member only due to security reasons. Different members of the family can sign up separately for their individual account using their respective usernames. Multiple usage of same account is not allowed.
Can I register again as a member after I cancel my membership once?
You can reactivate your membership anytime you wish to. You will need to use your email id you used earlier for mylibrary. Click on the 'Renew membership' link in your 'My Account' section and it will take you through the renewal process.
Do I get any discounts or free gifts if I enrol my friends too?
Yes. All you need to do is to Tell Your Friends about us and we will surprise you with a mylibrary gift for every five people you recommended sign up with us!
Can I gift a subscription to my friend?
Yes. You can Gift a mylibrary membership to your friends by simply visiting Gift a subscription and make them part of the mylibrary world!
Can I keep my account on hold for some days, as I won"t be using it?
Yes you can. You can simply freeze your account for a maximum of 30days.
What does 'Freeze account' mean and how does it work?
Freeze your membership before whenever you want! Just before you are planning to travel on business or holiday or waiting for examination to get over! No deliveries will be sent out in this period nor will you be billed for it. You can freeze your account for a maximum period of 30 days within your membership period.

Elibrary Membership
What is Elibrary?
Elibrary is membership plan that provides you access to more than 70,000 e-books including key subject areas like Business & Economics, Computers & IT, Humanities, Science & Engineering and many more. Elibrary's single easy-to-use interface makes research quick and easy through powerful features such as InfoTools, personal bookshelves, automatic citations, highlighting, annotating and more.
How can I access Ebooks?
To access Ebooks subscribe to Elibrary membership, sign in to your mylibrary account and follow the Elibrary link on main page.
Ebooks can only be accessed through an internet browser (PC, Laptop, and Tablet). Ebooks available through mylibrary cannot be accessed via Android, iPhone, iPad applications.
Is the entire book available on Elibrary or just a few chapters/topics?
At Elibrary, an online version of the entire book is available for you to read.
How many books am I entitled to read from Elibrary?
Your Elibrary account is free from reading limits. You can read as many books you wish to!
Can I download e-books from Elibrary?
No. E-books cannot be downloaded from Elibrary. However, you can partially print the e-book pages if you need.
E-books can only be accessed through an internet browser (PC, Laptop, and Tablet). Ebooks available through mylibrary cannot be accessed via Android, iPhone, iPad applications.

What are the payment methods available?
You can make payment for your mylibrary membership in one of the following ways:
1. Pay by Credit/Debit card only:
You can pay by your credit/debit card online at mylibrary website. You can also visit us at the address below to make a credit/debit card payment.
2. Cheque Pick Up request:
You can also request for a cheque to be collected from your address. All you need to do is to give us your address at the time of registration and we’ll send our courier personnel to collect the cheque on your preferred date.

What cards are acceptable at mylibrary?
All valid VISA and MASTERCARD credit/debit cards are accepted for payments at mylibrary.
Is it safe to use my credit/debit card on mylibrary website?
www.mylibrary.britishcouncil.org is Norton Secured by Verisign and uses SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) technology to encrypt the personal information you enter whilst registering. This ensures that none of your personal information can be read by any third party. As a result, you can be assured that sending your credit/debit card is safe.
What happens if the online payment by credit/debit card is declined at mylibrary?
You can request for a cheque pick up online and we’ll send our courier personnel at your registered address to collect the same.

Will you rent or give out my personal and credit card details if I register online?
No. We value your privacy and do not rent, sell or disclose your email address or any personal information to third parties. However, we do share your personal address and telephone numbers with our logistic partner for delivery of your books. For further information, please read our Privacy Policy.
How do I see my Payment History?
You can see your payment history by clicking on the ‘My Receipts’ link under ‘My Account’ tab on the homepage. This page will be available after you sign in your mylibrary account.
Are there any late fee charges?
No, there are no late fee charges for books borrowed by you. Keep the books for as long as you want. Read at your leisure, but do remember that in order to get your next set of books and get the best value from your membership plan, you should return your books promptly. Be sure that you select the right plan and please be considerate to other members who may be waiting to read the same book!

What is a Rental Queue?
A Rental Queue is a wish list of the books you want to read. Clicking on the 'Add to Queue' or 'Rent Now' button below the book picture will add the book to your Rental Queue. We strongly recommend that you have at least 20 books in your Rental Queue. You can check/revise your Rental Queue by clicking on the Rental Queue under 'My Services' drop down menu.
How do I manage my Rental Queue?
Managing your Rental Queue helps you get the best out of your membership plan. Sign in, browse for a book you want and click 'Add to Queue' or 'Rent Now' button below it. The book is automatically added to the bottom of the list in your Queue. You can also change the priority or the sequence in which the books should be sent to you. This can be done easily by giving numbers to the books in the Rental Queue.
How to delete books from my Rental Queue?
On the Rental Queue page, click the check box besides the book that you want to remove from your wish list. Once you select the book(s) you want to remove from your Rental Queue, click on the 'Update queue' tab at the bottom of your Rental Queue. The selected books will be removed from your Rental Queue.
How do I add a new release/forthcoming release into my Rental Queue?
We will update mylibrary website regularly with the information about new releases/ forthcoming books. You can then place them in your Rental Queue.
Is there a limit to the number of books in my Rental Queue?
At the most, you can have 99 titles in your Rental Queue. It is always advisable to have as many books as possible in your Rental Queue, so that it is easier for us to process your queue quickly.
How do I know whether the book requested has been added into the Rental Queue?
Please check and manage your 'Rental Queue' regularly. Books prioritized by you will be displayed immediately on updation.
Can my Rental Queue be blocked so that nobody can change it?
The books are put in your Rental Queue only by you using your personal user id and password. No one can change your Rental Queue without your knowledge.
Can I track the status of the title(s) that I have requested?
Yes you can. You can simply log into your mylibrary account online and check the status of the title(s). On every delivery, we also send you an email confirming the dispatch of your title(s).
Why should I keep at least twenty books in my Rental Queue?
It is recommended that you keep at least 20 books and in your Rental Queue. Books and will be delivered to you based on priority and availability. A longer book queue will enable us to deliver available books on time and reduce your waiting period.
The status of a book in my Rental Queue is "Coming Soon". What does this mean?
It means the book is not available in our collection as yet, but we intend to get it soon.

How are the books sent to me?
Books will be sent to you through our logistic partner and will reach you in two business days after the date of dispatch.
Where will I get the books delivered?
Books will be delivered to you at the delivery address provided by you at the time of registration. Please note that the deliveries won"t be done in Post Boxes.
Can I get my requested books delivered at a different address from the one I registered with you?
To get your books delivered at a different address, please make sure you change the address on your account before the books are dispatched by us. You can update your address online. Sign-in to your mylibrary account, click on 'My account' and then on 'My delivery details'.
Can the delivery of books be done from my office also?
Yes. The delivery of books can be done from any address that you register with us. However, you need to make sure that the delivery boy has access to your office premises and that you are available to accept the delivery.
Which books are sent to me when I ask for a delivery?
We will send you the next available title/s maintained in your 'Rental Queue' as per your preference.
How often are the books dispatched?
We dispatch books on all working days. Books are not dispatched on Public Holidays and Sundays.
How do I get the next set of books?
Once you are done with reading your current set of books and returned them to us. We will automatically dispatch the next set of available title/s maintained in your 'Rental Queue' as per your preference.
Will the delivery be affected during Holidays?
Sorry, delivery of books may be affected during holidays as there will not dispatches on Sundays and Public Holidays.
When will the books be delivered to me?
We will ensure that all your requested titles are delivered within 2 business days for all the books available with us. However, we"d request you to bear with us in rare cases where we might take a little more than the promised timeline.
How can I ensure that the books come to me as fast as possible?
If you read and return your books quickly to us, we can ensure your next book is sent out to you as soon as possible.
How do I track my requested books?
You can track your requested books by contacting our Customer Service Team on 022 - 67486748. We are available Monday to Saturday from 10:00 am to 06:00 pm (except Public Holidays)
Do I have to sign when I receive my books?
Yes. It is important for you to sign and acknowledge on the delivery sheet when you receive your content for tracking purposes. In case if you are not available at the time of delivery, please ask any of your family members to sign it on your behalf and mention their name on the delivery sheet, so that we can track who accepted the delivery on your behalf. Before accepting the delivery, please check if the correct books were sent to you and if they are in good condition.
How long can I retain the title(s) I have borrowed in my possession?
Your mylibrary subscription is free from late fees and due dates, so you can keep the books with you as long as you want to. However, titles which are in demand will have to be returned quickly and we will follow up with gentle reminders so that you can return the copy to us. Also, delivery of next set of books will only be once you have returned the previous title(s) to us.
I received a 'Book Sent' email, but I still haven't got any books. What should I do?
Please allow at least 2 business days after the dispatch date for the delivery to happen. To report a damaged book, please login to your online account and select the book from your Rental Queue that has a problem. From the options given there, select a problem that you want to report. We will revert to you in 2 business days.

Why are books not sent in the exact order I have chosen?
We cannot guarantee the exact order of sending your books, as this depends on
availability of the books requested. In case the book on the top of your list is not
available, then we will send you the next book available in your Rental Queue.
Returns
How do I return the books that I have borrowed from you?
You can request a return and pick up through your online mylibrary account. Simply log in to your online account, go to the 'Rental Queue' page and click on return besides the title that you want to return. Select a date and a time convenient for you to return the book and our delivery partner will collect the book from your address.
Should I send you an email when I return a book?
No, there's no need to send us an email when you return a book. Since you have already scheduled a pick-up, we track the progress of your return until the actual receipt. However, if your online account shows that book has not yet been returned after 2 business days, please send an email to mumbai.enquiry@in.britishcouncil.org or call our Customer Service Team on 022 - 67486748. How do I know you've received the book I had returned?
When we receive the books that you have returned, we will send you an email confirming the receipt of the returned books and will also updated your online account. Please allow at least 2 working days for us to receive the books you have returned.
Can the return of books be done from my office also?
Yes. You can return your books from any address that you have registered with us.
Can the return of books be done on holidays too?
Sorry. You can return books on working days only. We don"t pick up books on Sundays and Public Holidays.
Can I return a book directly to your office instead of scheduling a pick- up?
Books can only be returned by scheduling a pick-up.
If I have borrowed multiple books, do I have to return them all at the same time?
Not necessarily. If you have borrowed 2 books and want to return only one, you can still return it. However, it is advisable to return all the borrowed books at once, so that the next set of books can be sent to you.
What do I do if I receive the wrong book?
We take utmost care while sending your books to make sure you receive the correct ones. However, due to any error, if you have received a wrong book, please login to your online account and 'Report a problem' by going to the Rental Queue. I returned a book but according to my Rental Queue, you haven"t received it.
Our delivery partners will take 2 days to deliver us the book you returned. However, it's possible that the book has been lost in the mail. Please allow 2 business days after returning the book. If the book has not been received by us after this time then please Report a Problem. How important is the mylibrary username?
The email address that you entered at the time of registering the account is your mylibrary username. mylibary username is a unique identification assigned to you to log into your account and access the online services. The username allows you to access the special subscription-related services at mylibrary website and also track all your mylibrary transactions.
How do I update my information on the site?
Login to www.mylibrary.in.britishcouncil.org and click on 'Account' on the homepage. This will take you the 'My account' page where you can update all your information - from email ID to address to delivery details, etc.
How can I change my password?
To change your password, login to www.mylibrary.in.britishcouncil.org and click on the 'Account' on the homepage. This will take you the Account page. Click on the 'My password' link under 'Edit my details'. Enter the required information and click 'Change password' and your password will be changed to the new one that you entered.
I have forgotten my user id and or password. What do I do?
Please remember that your user id is the e-mail id you used while registering yourself as a member. If you have forgotten your password click on 'Lost your password?' link on the Sign-in page and an auto-generated password will be emailed to you at the email address provided for registration.
Why should I change my password regularly?
To ensure no one uses your account wrongly. In case if you feel that someone knows your
password and might use it without your consent, it is advisable to change the password
regularly for security of your account.

You are welcome to write reviews on our books, regardless of your subscription status. Go ahead; unleash your book and film appreciation skill.

Once you have reviewed a book we check that it is a reasonable length of review and suitable for displaying on the website. This may take a few days. Once we have confirmed its suitability, it will be displayed. If you make a change to the review, it will go through this checking process again.
